About No Retreat No Surrender
No Retreat, No Surrender from May 2, 1986 follows Jason Stillwell learning from Bruce Lee's spirit to face Ivan Kraschinsky, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in his first major role. Corey Yuen directed the Hong Kong and U.S. co-production, which earned 4.6 million domestically. No Retreat, No Surrender 2 from 1987 sends Scott Wylde to Cambodia against Russians, with Loren Avedon, Cynthia Rothrock and Max Thayer.
No Retreat, No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers from January 25, 1990 pairs feuding brothers Casey and Will Alexander against the mafia after their father is killed. Avedon and Keith Vitali star, but as new characters. Neither sequel continues Jason's story, which is why the series plays as an anthology.
Good to know
There is no story continuity to untangle, so do not look for Jason in parts 2 and 3. Part 2 premiered in the Philippines in November 1987 and reached the U.S. in January 1989, which is why years vary by source. Part 3 was sold as Kickboxer 2 in Europe and as Karate Tiger 3 in Germany. The 2026 documentary The Untold Story is about the making of the series, not a fourth story entry.
