About Old Mother Riley
Old Mother Riley is a British low budget comedy series built on Arthur Lucan in drag as the Irish washerwoman, usually with Kitty McShane as daughter Kitty. It starts with Old Mother Riley in 1937, then Paris in 1938 and MP in 1939, where she stands for parliament. Wartime entries include Joins Up, In Society, In Business, Circus and Ghosts, all from 1940 to 1941.
Overseas and Detective both arrived in 1943, At Home in 1945, then New Venture in 1949, Headmistress in 1950 and Jungle Treasure in 1951. It ends with Mother Riley Meets the Vampire in 1952 with Bela Lugosi. Release order matches the production run and the jokes do not need another sequence.
Good to know
Fifteen films is the full Riley run from 1937 to 1952, the same length as the Pixar and DreamWorks guides here. No separate Arthur Lucan guide is needed since his Riley films are these same titles. Kitty McShane misses only the last film, replaced by Dora Bryan, after the couple split. The series closed in 1952 and Lucan died in 1954, so nothing is missing.
