Paranormal Activity began with Oren Peli's 2007 indie about Katie and Micah's bedroom haunting. The franchise expanded with part 2 (2010) around Kristi's house, part 3 (2011) in 1988 childhood, part 4 (2011) with the neighbor boy, Marked Ones (2014) in Oxnard, Ghost Dimension (2015) closing the coven arc, and Next of Kin (2021) rebooting in an Amish community.
The Toby demon and the coven of witches connect parts one through six, while Next of Kin starts fresh. Blumhouse has discussed further films with no date announced, keeping the found-footage door open.
Good to know
First-time viewers should use release order, since the reveals about Katie and the coven were designed to land that way. Chronological order starts with part 3 in 1988 and spoils the first film's scares early, so save it for rewatches. Marked Ones works as a side story any time after part 2, and Next of Kin stands fully alone as the reboot.
