About Scott Derrickson
Scott Derrickson mixes horror with moral tests, starting with The Exorcism of Emily Rose in 2005 about a trial after a rite goes wrong. Sinister in 2012 follows writer Ellison Oswalt finding snuff reels that summon Bughuul across attic viewings and lawn horrors with strong home dread.
Doctor Strange in 2016 brings surgeon Stephen Strange to magic training with cloak and time stone fights. The Black Phone in 2021 traps teen Finney with kidnapper Grabber plus ghost phone help, while Black Phone 2 in 2025 returns to the cold camp past. Watch in release order to track his steady scare craft across separate worlds.
Good to know
Watch Emily Rose first for the courtroom faith setup that shapes his later moral scares and doubt. Sinister next for the home reel peak before the Marvel break. Doctor Strange then Black Phone in order, since the magic scale cleanses the palate before the basement return. Five films form the full guide with no short required for plot and full lore.
