About Sing
Sing follows theater owner Buster Moon staging a singing contest to save his venue, with Gunter, Rosita, Ash and Johnny carrying the show. The 2016 film ends with the theater rebuilt on the contest's success, and three mini-movies from 2017 riff on the same troupe.
Sing 2 moves the cast to a big-city venue with new star Clay Calloway. Sing Thriller from 2024 is an eleven-minute Halloween special set after the sequel at Calloway's place. A third film is in active development with no date, so the story currently rests after Thriller.
Good to know
Release order is story order, since every short is a side gag with the same cast rather than a new chapter. The three 2017 mini-movies can be watched any time after the first film or skipped. Sing 2 continues the troupe directly, and Thriller closes the current run. Sing 3 is confirmed in active development with no official date, so it stays out of the list for now.
