About Taken
Taken follows former CIA operative Bryan Mills, played by Liam Neeson. The first film (2008) sends him to Paris after his daughter Kim is kidnapped. Taken 2 (2012) flips the setup in Istanbul when the villains take Mills and his ex-wife. Taken 3 (2014) stays in Los Angeles with Mills framed for murder and clearing his name.
NBC aired a Taken series from 2017 to 2018 with Clive Standen as a young Mills. It calls itself an origin story but is set in the present day with a different supporting cast, so most guides treat it as a separate continuity rather than a true prequel.
Good to know
Watch the three films in release order and stop there unless you want everything. The series was retooled between seasons, lost viewers, and was cancelled after 26 episodes in June 2018 with no connection to the film endings. No new Taken film has been announced, and Neeson has said in interviews that the trilogy closed out Mills on the big screen.
