About The Accountant
The Accountant is a two film action thriller series starring Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff, an autistic accountant who cooks books for criminals. The Accountant from 2016 follows Wolff as a Treasury agent closes in while he untangles a robotics firm's fraud. The Accountant 2 from April 2025 reteams Wolff with his brother Braxton for a missing persons case.
The sequel builds directly on the brothers' reunion teased in the first film, so release order is the viewing order. Watch the 2016 original before the 2025 follow up for the Wolff family reveal to land. The pair plays as one brother story across two cases with no spinoffs between them.
Good to know
Watch the 2016 film before The Accountant 2 from 2025, since the brother reveal closes the original and opens the sequel. Wolff's routine and skill set carry over, so the first film's setup matters. Both films mix puzzle plotting with action finales, making a double feature smooth. Two films in release order complete the series so far.
