Total Recall Watch Order

Every Total Recall screen version in order: the 1990 Schwarzenegger classic, the 22-episode Total Recall 2070 TV series from 1999, and the 2012 Colin Farrell remake. Three separate takes on one Philip K. Dick story, so release order is the sensible path.

About Total Recall

Total Recall from 1990 stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid, a man whose implanted Mars vacation memories unravel into a real conspiracy on the red planet. Directed by Paul Verhoeven, it won a special effects Oscar and became one of the defining science fiction action films of its era.

Total Recall 2070 followed in 1999 as a 22-episode Canadian TV series that plays more like Blade Runner than the film, with a detective and his android partner. The 2012 remake with Colin Farrell retells the premise without Mars. The three are separate takes on Philip K. Dick's story rather than one saga, so watch them as three variations.

Good to know

Release order works because the three entries do not connect. The 1990 film and the 2012 film are two versions of the same short story, and the 2070 series borrows the name for a mostly unrelated detective show. New viewers who only want the classic can stop after 1990. The series is for completists who enjoy low budget cyberpunk television.
