About Universal Soldier
Universal Soldier started July 1992 with Van Damme and Lundgren as revived soldiers. Two TV movies in 1998 with Matt Battaglia form an alternate branch without Van Damme. The Return in August 1999 ignores them and continues theatrically.
Regeneration from 2009 ignores Return and the TV branch as a direct sequel to 1992, with Day of Reckoning in 2012 continuing it. A TV series pitch from 2011 never made it. Watch in release order to see each reset where it landed. Story order would pull the branches apart.
Good to know
The branches are the whole confusion. TV parts 2 and 3 share one path, Return another, and Regeneration plus Day a third from the 1992 start. Release order keeps those resets visible. Day of Reckoning from 2012 is the latest and no sequel is active as of September 2026, so the list ends there for now. Start with the 1992 film.
