About Toy Story
Pixar released Toy Story 5 on June 19, 2026, with Andrew Stanton directing and Tom Hanks and Tim Allen back as Woody and Buzz. It puts Bonnie and her new tablet, Lilypad, at the centre of a toy versus tech problem, and it passed $1.1 billion worldwide before landing on Disney+ on September 23.
Lightyear (2022) is separate: it is the movie that inspired Andy's Buzz toy, with no bearing on the mainline plot, so watch it whenever you like or skip it. Release order and story order come out the same list here, since every film picks up after the one before.
Good to know
No Toy Story 6 has been announced as of September 2026. Stanton has framed Toy Story 5 as the second chapter of a Bonnie-era trilogy that mirrors Andy's three films, but the announced Pixar slate runs to Coco 2 in 2029 with no sixth Toy Story on it. The shorts and Forky Asks a Question are optional.
