About Twister
Twister from 1996 follows storm chasers Jo and Bill racing rival teams to deploy the Dorothy sensor array inside a tornado. Directed by Jan de Bont from a Crichton story, it earned 494 million and defined the disaster blockbuster.
Twisters arrived in 2024 as a standalone sequel with new chasers and a new Dorothy generation, grossing well without continuing the original cast. The two films share tornado science but no characters. Watch the 1996 original first for Hunt and Paxton, then the 2024 film as its own storm.
