About Unbreakable
The Unbreakable trilogy follows David Dunn, a security guard who survives a train crash without a scratch, and Elijah Price, a man with brittle bones who believes heroes walk among us. Shyamalan shot Unbreakable in 2000 as a grounded take on comic book origins, then left the idea alone for sixteen years before returning with Split, which follows Kevin Wendell Crumb and the emergence of the Beast.
Glass brings Dunn, Price and Crumb together in a psychiatric facility where Dr. Ellie Staple argues their powers are delusions. Shyamalan confirmed in January 2019 that no further sequels are planned, so the three films form a closed loop best watched in the order they were released.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order worth listing here. The story plays in the same sequence as the release dates, and Split was designed as a secret sequel whose final scene only lands if you have seen Unbreakable first. Watch Unbreakable, then Split, then Glass. The mid credits tease of a wider group of powered people at the end of Glass closes the loop rather than opening a new one.
