About Weekend at Bernie's
Weekend at Bernie's follows two office workers who discover their boss Bernie is dead and prop the body through a weekend of parties to avoid suspicion. The sequel ships Bernie to the Virgin Islands, where voodoo magic reanimates him whenever music plays.
Watch in release order. The sequel is a direct continuation that assumes you know Larry, Richard and the original cover up, so starting with part two spoils the first film's whole construction. Both run under 100 minutes, making the pair a single evening double feature.
Good to know
The films recast neither lead: Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman return for both, with Terry Kiser as Bernie in each. A third film or remake has been rumored for decades without ever reaching production. The premise is a one joke engine by design, so expect diminishing returns on night two of the pair.
