About A Good Girl's Guide to Murder

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a British mystery thriller based on Holly Jackson's 2019 debut novel, adapted by Poppy Cogan and directed by Dolly Wells for BBC Three, with Moonage Pictures and ZDFneo behind it. Emma Myers plays Pippa Fitz-Amobi, a teenager in the fictional town of Little Kilton who decides the police got a case wrong and starts investigating on her own, partly to make content for the school project and podcast she is running.

The first series premiered on BBC iPlayer on July 1, 2024, aired on BBC Three from July 10 and reached Netflix internationally on August 1. The second series followed on May 27, 2026 and moves away from the original case into the disappearance of Jamie, the brother of Pip's friend Connor. A third and final series is due in 2027 with four episodes.

That structure is what makes the show easy to follow and easy to get wrong. Each series takes one case, and the third closes the story that the first one opened. Jackson's novels, the first of which the show follows closely, run to three books, with the screen version ending on a note that is different from the books.

Good to know

Watch the series in order. Each one takes a single case, and the third series is the payoff to the first, so the shape of the mystery only lands if you have seen Pip's first investigation from the start.

Series 1 went out in three different ways: BBC iPlayer on July 1, 2024, BBC Three on July 10 and Netflix on August 1. The episode order is the same in all three, so the release route does not change the sequence.

The third series is announced for 2027 and has no date yet, so it sits at the end of the list as a confirmed but undated entry. The books are three: the first novel covers series 1, and the later novels cover material the show has adapted differently.

Expect a darker second series. Reviews of it were positive but noted the shift in tone away from the first run's lighter texture.
