Ballard spins Renee Ballard out of the Bosch books onto Prime Video, with Maggie Q as the cold case detective running the underfunded unit. Season 1 dropped ten episodes July 9, 2025 and pairs a season long councilman murder with weekly cold cases. Bosch himself crosses over, but the unit and its backlog carry the story.
Prime Video renewed it October 6, 2025. Season 2 filmed in Los Angeles through spring 2026 with ten episodes expected, though no premiere date is set. Author Michael Connelly points at late 2026 or early 2027. Watch season 1 first since the unit roster and the councilman thread return.
Good to know
Release order is the story order. The cold cases reset weekly, but the councilman murder and the unit politics run across the whole first season into the second. Bosch and Bosch Legacy knowledge helps with the crossovers yet is not required. Season 2 is renewed with no firm day, so it sits last with a null year until Prime Video dates it.
