About The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd
The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd follows Molly, a divorced New Yorker drifting through jobs, jazz and tangled love affairs. The first two seasons aired 1987 to 1988 on NBC on Tuesdays, created by Jay Tarses with Blair Brown in the lead. The show moved to Lifetime for seasons three through five from 1989 to 1991 with the same tone and longer cable runs.
All five seasons form one continuous character run with light continuity around work and romance. Watch seasons one through five in broadcast order for the full 65 episode arc. There are no films or revivals beyond the 1991 finale, so the NBC plus Lifetime run is the complete path from first apartment to the closing choices.
Good to know
Watch the two NBC seasons first, since they set Molly and her circle quickly. The three Lifetime seasons continue the same life with more room, so they play as later chapters rather than a reset. The gentle serialized threads reward broadcast order. The 65 episode run from 1987 to 1991 is complete with no follow up. Broadcast order keeps work threads and romance turns clear across the seasons.
