About Designated Survivor
Designated Survivor opens with the Capitol destroyed and Tom Kirkman sworn in on ABC. Season 1 ran 21 episodes from September 2016 around the bombing hunt with Hannah Wells. Season 2 ran 22 episodes from September 2017 into governing arcs. Season 3 ran 10 episodes on Netflix from June 2019 around reelection before cancellation over contracts.
David Guggenheim created the run with Kiefer Sutherland and Maggie Q. The bombing conspiracy resolves across seasons while politics continue. Watch straight through since traitor reveals reframe earlier episodes.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 3 in order, since the Capitol plot threads every year directly. The show is TV-14 political thriller with FBI side cases throughout. Kirkman's legitimacy arc spans the whole run from bombing to reelection. Netflix cancelled it in July 2019, so the season 3 end is the endpoint.
