About Diff'rent Strokes
Diff'rent Strokes aired on NBC and ABC from November 1978 to March 1986 for eight seasons and 189 episodes. It follows brothers Arnold and Willis moving into Park Avenue millionaire Phillip Drummond's home with Kimberly and Mrs. Garrett. The show mixed comedy with issue episodes around drugs, abuse and hitchhiking that defined the very special era.
The Facts of Life spun off Mrs. Garrett in 1979 for nine seasons, outlasting its parent. No revival has been ordered, with the finale's apartment sendoff closing the Drummond household and the cast reuniting only in retrospectives.
Good to know
Watch one through eight in broadcast order, since the children's aging and the issue episodes assume sequence across the whole run. Early seasons play around the fish-out-of-water setup before the message shows take over. The Facts of Life works after as its own school story with only Mrs. Garrett behind it.
