About Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island began with TV movies in January 1977 and January 1978 about Mr. Roarke granting guest fantasies with Tattoo at his side on a private island. The original series ran seven seasons and 152 episodes from January 1978 to May 1984 on ABC with weekly guests.
A 1998 ABC revival ran 13 episodes with Malcolm McDowell as Roarke in a darker take. A horror film prequel arrived February 2020 with Michael Pena. Fox rebooted it in 2021 with Roselyn Sanchez as Elena Roarke for two seasons and 23 episodes through 2023 before cancellation ended it.
Good to know
Watch the original movies and series first, then sample revivals in release order afterward. The 1998, 2020 and 2021 takes reset continuity with new Roarkes, so none needs the others to work. The original guest plots stand alone week to week, which means the season rule is light outside the pilot setup and finale.
