About Millennium
Millennium (1996 to 1999) follows Frank Black, a retired profiler who sees evil's patterns, across three Fox seasons of escalating apocalyptic dread. Season 1 plays profiler procedural, season 2 goes mythological under new showrunners, and season 3 burns the group down.
Broadcast order is essential; the seasons chain Frank's family and the Millennium Group's turns. The X-Files crossover episode (season 7 of that show) functions as an epilogue and slots after Millennium's finale. Chris Carter's bleakest show never found its audience in the X-Files shadow, which is now its cult credential.
Good to know
The season 2 showrunner change (Wong and Morgan replacing Carter's room) transforms the show so thoroughly that fans argue over the real Millennium: watch both before choosing. The finale was written as a series ender when cancellation loomed, then un-ended by renewal mechanics. The X-Files episode Millennium closes Frank's story as much as anything does. No revival has filmed despite cast interest.
