About Monk
Monk aired on USA from July 2002 to December 2009 for eight seasons and 125 episodes. It follows obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub, solving murders with Sharona then Natalie beside Stottlemeyer and Disher. The finale closes Trudy's murder with the six-finger man caught.
Mr. Monk's Last Case streamed on Peacock in December 2023 with the crew reuniting around a pandemic-era case. The film assumes the series finale directly, with Monk's growth the throughline rather than a reboot of the formula.
Good to know
Watch all eight seasons in broadcast order, then the 2023 film, since Trudy's case and the assistant handoff assume the run. The show is episodic around one murder each with the phobia gags throughout, so an occasional skip harms nothing outside the mythology episodes. The film plays as a feature finale rather than a new pilot.
