About Night Sky
Night Sky follows Franklin and Irene York, played by Sissy Spacek and J. K. Simmons, who have a portal under their Illinois shed leading to a desert planet. All eight episodes arrived May 20, 2022. The show was developed under the title Lightyears. A young stranger and a caretaker widen the mystery across the season.
Prime Video canceled the series on July 5, 2022, about six weeks after release. Plans for a second season were scrapped, so episode 8 is the end. The episodes run 50 to 60 minutes each.
Good to know
Watch episodes 1 through 8 in the order listed. The portal trips and the family story move forward together with no time jumps to reorder. Start with To the Stars for the setup, continue through the middle hours for Jude and Denise, then finish with Compensation. No film or special follows, so the eight episodes are the full run.
