About Spin City
Spin City opened September 1996 on ABC about deputy mayor Mike Flaherty under a bumbling mayor with a sharp young staff working nights. Seasons 1 and 2 ran 24 each, with seasons 3 and 4 at 26 each through 2000 as the Fox era peak.
Michael J. Fox left at season 4 end because of Parkinson, with one guest return in season 6 to pass the torch on screen. Charlie Sheen led seasons 5 and 6 at 23 and 22 episodes through April 2002 with Heather Locklear aboard. ABC cancelled it that spring with no film after.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 6 in air order from start to finish. The Fox to Sheen switch in season 5 only works with the city hall crew behind it fully. The mayor office plots reset around Charlie, so expect a new lead dynamic rather than a copy. The finale closes the staff stories with no revival since.
