About Spiral
Spiral, original title Engrenages, follows Paris police, lawyers and judges around the Palais de Justice. Laure Berthaud leads the street cases, Josephine Karlsson defends, and Pierre Clement prosecutes. Early seasons track single corpses to wider rings, later ones follow gangs, suburbs and internal affairs.
Eight seasons ran on Canal Plus from December 2005 to October 2020, 86 episodes in all. The cases are self contained per season but the private lives carry over, so season order is both release order and story order.
Good to know
Watch seasons 1 through 8 in order. Skipping ahead breaks the Laure, Gilou and Josephine arcs, which pay off slowly. The English titles vary by broadcaster, so match by season number rather than episode name. No revival has aired since season eight closed the Palais thread. Later seasons run 12 episodes, so plan them as full weeks.
