About White House Plumbers
White House Plumbers follows E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy as Nixon aides who botch the Ellsberg break-in and then the Watergate hotel job. Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux lead a farce of forged cables, wigs and money drops. The HBO limited series aired five episodes in 2023.
Early episodes establish the Plumbers unit and the Fielding office raid. Middle chapters move into the DNC surveillance and the cash hunts. The finale stages the arrests and the cover-up collapse that history already records. The comedy comes from watching small lies require larger crimes, so skipping ahead hides how the fund dries up.
Good to know
Watch episodes one through five in order. The Watergate timeline only moves forward from 1971 to 1974, and each botched job funds the next. There is no alternate chronology to try, since history fixes the dates. New viewers need no prior Watergate knowledge, as the show explains each burglary before mocking it.
