About Casshan
Casshan aired from October 1973 to June 1974 as a 35 episode Tatsunoko series about Tetsuya Azuma turned cyborg Casshan to fight Braiking Boss androids with girlfriend Luna and robot dog Friender. The show mixes weekly robot battles with a harsh war story as Casshan hunts his own resurrected mother figure across ruined cities and bases.
Casshern Sins aired in 2008 as a 24 episode reboot where Casshern wakes in a dying world accused of killing Luna, who gave life to robots. It is a separate continuity with slow ruins, faith groups and robot decay, so watch the 1973 series first for the heroic root, then Sins as a dark mirror with no shared plot to untangle.
Good to know
Watch the 1973 Casshan run first, since its clear hero fights ground the concept before the reboot twists it. Sins is a separate continuity, so no episode bridges the two and either order works for plot, but classic first keeps the Luna twist sharp. Treat both runs as finished, since later films and OVAs retell rather than extend these TV stories. Start classic for action, then Sins for mood.
