About Daitarn 3
Daitarn 3 follows Banjo Haran, a laid-back playboy who pilots the transforming robot Daitarn against the cyborg Meganoids. Aided by Garrison, Reika and the butler, he battles commanders Nendol, Koros and Don Zauker. Sunrise aired forty episodes from 1978 to 1979.
Early episodes establish the Meganoid hierarchy and Banjo's lone-wolf style. Middle chapters introduce Reika's spy past and the city-ship threats. Later episodes reveal Koros as the true leader and close with the Mars confrontation. The villains escalate in fixed order, so jumping ahead spoils who outranks whom.
Good to know
Watch episodes in broadcast order. The series is mostly episodic, but Meganoid commanders debut and fall sequentially. There is no film sequel in continuity, since later Super Robot Wars games retell the story separately. New viewers can sample early fights, yet the finale lands better after seeing Don Zauker's long failure arc.
