About Glass Mask
Glass Mask follows Maya Kitajima from restaurant helper to stage contender under Chigusa Tsukikage, rivaled by Ayumi Himekawa. The 1984 Eiken series ran 22 to 23 episodes from April 9 to September 27, 1984 on NTV and stops early in the story. The three-part OVA from December 16, 1998 to April 21, 1999 remakes the first arcs.
The 2005 TMS series ran 51 episodes from April 6, 2005 to March 29, 2006 and goes furthest. Live dramas from 1997 to 1998 with Yumi Adachi cover similar ground in 11 episodes plus a sequel. The manga started January 1976 in Hana to Yume and passed 49 volumes, still the longest source.
Good to know
There is no continuation across versions, so this is a pick-your-adaptation case rather than a single plot line. Newcomers usually start with 2005 since it is complete and subtitled. Use 1984 for the vintage look and the OVA for a short taste. The live dramas from 1997 work as a separate live path after any anime run. All anime entries are finished, with no new anime announced.
