About Great Pretender
Great Pretender (2020) is Wit Studio's globe-trotting con-artist caper: Makoto gets recruited by Laurent's crew for heists across Los Angeles, Singapore, London and Shanghai, each arc a self-contained long con. The 14-episode first run splits into cases that build the crew's trust.
The second season Razbliuto (2024) continues with new marks and higher stakes. Watch in release order; the cases chain character consequences while resetting scams. The show's retro-cool styling and Freddie Mercury theme song are the signature. The cons reward attention, so this is a poor background watch.
Good to know
The case structure means each arc works as a mini-movie, but Laurent's backstory unfolds across all of them: order matters for him, not the marks. The English dub is unusually strong for the show's multilingual cons. Razbliuto assumes the first season's crew dynamics fully. No third season had been announced at the last check, so the two runs are the set for now.
