About Highschool of the Dead
Highschool of the Dead follows Takashi Komuro leading Rei, Saeko and school mates out of Fujimi through zombies to malls and shrines. The TV series runs 12 episodes in 2010 through Shido cult and police arcs. Drifters of the Dead OVA in 2011 traps the group on an island as a beach bridge.
Watch the series first since weapon rules and group splits carry into the OVA. The manga stopped at 7 volumes after author death, so readers end close after the anime with no finish. No sequel anime has been dated, which leaves the Madhouse run plus OVA as the set.
Good to know
Broadcast order is story order with the OVA as beach extra. The series sets outbreak rules fast through school stairs, so start there before mall politics. The OVA assumes the group bonds and Shido fallout, which makes saving it for last work best. Treat Drifters as the current end with the manga halted and no continuation pending.
