About Shirobako
Shirobako follows Aoi Miyamori with Ema, Shizuka, Misa and Midori as they make anime at Musashino. The 2014 series runs 24 episodes from Exodus through Third Aerial Girls Squad with deadlines, retakes and voice sessions. P.A. Works bases the studio chaos on real production floors.
Shirobako the Movie from 2020 jumps 4 years later to a feature film crunch with the same five leads. It assumes the series friendships and in jokes, so it plays as a reunion rather than a start. No new Shirobako TV run had been dated as of September 2026, which leaves the pair as the set.
Good to know
Watch the 2014 series fully before the film. The movie spoils career moves from the finale in its first minutes, so it cannot be an entry point for new viewers. The two anime inside the series can be enjoyed without outside knowledge. Treat the series plus film as complete, since sequel talk never became a date.
