About Squid Girl
Squid Girl follows Ika Musume, a squid humanoid who plans to invade the surface to punish ocean pollution but ends up working at a beach shop. The first season aired 12 episodes in late 2010 on TV Tokyo, produced by Diomedea from Masahiro Anbe manga. The second season aired 12 episodes in late 2011 with the same Aizawa family cast and beach setting.
A three part OVA released across 2012 to 2014 continues the short sketch format after the TV runs. Watch both TV seasons in broadcast order, then the OVA as an extra. There is no film, so the 24 TV episodes plus the OVA shorts are the complete screen version of the invasion.
Good to know
Watch the 2010 season first, since it sets the invasion premise and the Aizawa house rules. The 2011 season continues with the same jokes and new beach visitors, so it plays as part two rather than a reset. Save the OVA for last, since it assumes familiarity with Ika and the shop. The sketch format rewards broadcast order with no timeline tricks. Release order keeps the beach gags clear.
