About Bayonetta
Bayonetta follows Cereza in order across three Platinum games plus a prequel. The 2009 original sets the Umbra style, 2 from 2014 continues on Wii U and Switch, and 3 from 2022 splits timelines with Viola joining.
Origins from 2023 rewinds to young Cereza as a storybook prequel best played after the trilogy. No fourth game has been announced since the series creator's exit, so 3 is the current endpoint with Origins as its bedtime-story extra. The combat scoring and the dress transformations keep every single chapter stylish.
Good to know
Play 1, 2, then 3 in release order, since the multiverse of the third assumes the first two. Slot Origins last despite being a prequel, as its framing is a tale told afterward. Story order would put Origins first, but that spoils the trilogy's reveals, so keep it as the epilogue it was designed to be.
