About Free Lives
Free Lives is an independent studio based in Cape Town, South Africa, founded in 2012. Broforce (2015) is a side-scrolling run-and-gun parody of action films, published by Devolver Digital and expanded by the free Broforce Forever update in 2023. Genital Jousting (2018) is a crude multiplayer party game with a sincere single-player story mode.
Terra Nil (2023) changed pace completely: a serene reverse city-builder about restoring ecosystems, co-developed with Clockwork Acorn. Anger Foot (2024) returned to speed, a hard-bass first-person kicker-shooter that began as a 7-day game jam prototype. All four were published by Devolver Digital.
Good to know
Release order is the play order. The four games share a publisher and a sense of humor but no continuity, so newcomers can start with whichever genre appeals. Broforce Forever is a free update, not a separate game. Terra Nil plays nothing like the others, which surprises new players. The studio remains active, so expect future entries to extend this list.
