About Golden Axe
Golden Axe starts in 1989 as an arcade belt scroll with Ax, Tyris and Gilius against Death Adder. Revenge of Death Adder from 1992 adds new fighters on arcade boards, while Golden Axe Warrior from 1991 moves into Zelda style adventure on Master System.
The Duel from 1994 turns into one on one fights, Beast Rider from 2008 reboots with Tyris on Xbox and PS3 as a solo run. The series shares Yuria and beasts across entries but resets heroes, so release order suits mechanics over plot. A new remake has been discussed but had no date as of September 2026.
Good to know
Play the 1989 original first for the core trio, then Revenge for the arcade peak run with friends. Warrior suits adventure fans after the belt runs. The Duel can be skipped on a story run. Beast Rider fits last as the modern reboot rather than a part four. Treat the run as paused while a remake stays possible.
