About Star Fox
Star Fox is Nintendo's rail shooter about Fox McCloud's squad, starting on the SNES in 1993 and rebooted as Star Fox 64 in 1997, the version every later game references. Adventures from 2002 strands Fox on Dinosaur Planet eight years later, Assault from 2005 continues a year after that, and Command from 2006 branches into nine endings.
The 2011 3D remake retells 64, while Zero from 2016 reboots it again with PlatinumGames and Guard as its tower-defense companion. Star Fox 2 finished in 1995 but launched in 2017 on the SNES Classic. Play 64 through Command for the canon chain, then treat the rest as retellings.

Star Fox 64 is a retelling of the 1993 original and Zero retells 64 again, so release order needs those remake flags to avoid replay confusion. The canon sequel chain runs 64, Adventures, Assault and Command. Star Fox 2's ideas fed into 64 and Command before its belated 2017 release. No verified new game is announced, with the reported 2026 remake single-sourced and left out.
