About Virtual On
Virtual On started in arcades in 1995 as Operation Moongate with twin stick mech duels, ported to Saturn in 1996. Oratorio Tangram followed in 1998 with faster dashes and a Dreamcast port in 2000. Force arrived in 2001 as a 2 on 2 arcade entry later ported to Xbox 360.
Marz closed the run in 2003 on PlayStation 2 with a story mode and new pilots. The plot about factory moons and rogue Virtuaroids stays thin, so the real path is learning each speed jump. Ports keep the arcade timing, which is why release order still teaches best.
Good to know
Play oldest to newest since each sequel adds dashes and cancels. Start with Saturn or arcade Moongate, then Tangram for the core duel feel. Force suits co-op nights while Marz fits solo story runs well. No new entry has been announced since 2003 at all, so the four game run is complete and stable today.
