About Fletch
Fletch from 1985 follows reporter Irwin Fletcher in disguises on a murder story, with Chevy Chase leading a strong cast. Fletch Lives from 1989 keeps Chase for a Louisiana inheritance case with a new cast around him and southern humor.
Confess, Fletch from 2022 reboots with Jon Hamm adapting the second novel about a stolen painting and murder in Boston. A follow up called Fletch Fortune was hired out after, but the director said in August 2024 it died with studio changes. No new film is in work.
Good to know
Watch the 1985 film, then Lives for the Chase pair in order from start to finish. Confess works as a separate start since it adapts an earlier novel with no Chase links at all. The reboot assumes no prior film, so it can open a viewing just as well. All three stand closed with no hook left open now.
