About Monster Hunt
Monster Hunt from 2015 follows Song Tianyin carrying baby monster king Huba with hunter Huo Xiaolan across a bounty chase. Monster Hunt 2 from 2018 reunites them with new friends Tu and Benben against the demon king plot.
Both mix live action with cute CGI monsters and the same co parent pair played by Jing Boran and Bai Baihe. Raman Hui directed both with wire gags and White Bone lore. Watch in release order since the sequel assumes the first hiding and sale beats. A third film has been discussed but remains undated.
Good to know
There is no separate chronological order for Monster Hunt worth listing, since release order matches story order from birth to reunion. The sequel replays the Huba cute beats on purpose, so the bond lands after the original. Watch both films in order for the co parent arc. Huba fair chase and demon lair need the first bond.
