About Hawaii Five-0
Hawaii Five-0 follows the Five-O task force under Steve McGarrett with Danno, Chin and Kono. The original ran twelve seasons from 1968 to 1980 with 281 episodes, built on standalone island cases and the Wo Fat arc. It closed as one of the longest crime runs of its era.
The 2010 reboot recast the team with Alex O'Loughlin and ran ten seasons to 2020 with 240 episodes. It keeps names and the setup but restarts relationships from scratch. Watch the original first, then the reboot, since cases stand alone but team bonds differ by era.
Good to know
Release order keeps the two McGarretts apart, because the reboot is a restart rather than a continuation. The original finale from 1980 needs no reboot knowledge. The reboot finale from 2020 closes its own ten year arc. Either era can be sampled alone, but in order the partnership beats track cleanly within each run.
