About Starsky and Hutch

Starsky and Hutch was created by William Blinn and produced by Spelling-Goldberg Productions for ABC. A pilot aired on April 30, 1975, followed by 92 episodes across four seasons, ending on May 15, 1979. Paul Michael Glaser played Dave Starsky and David Soul played Ken Hutchinson, with Antonio Fargas as Huggy Bear. The red Ford Gran Torino became one of television's most famous cars.

The 2004 film Starsky and Hutch was directed by Todd Phillips and released on March 5, 2004 by Warner Bros. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson play the duo in a story set in 1975 that works as a prequel to the series, with Snoop Dogg as Huggy Bear and Vince Vaughn as the villain. It earned about 170 million dollars worldwide on a 60 million dollar budget. Watch the original series first, then the film.

Good to know

There is no separate chronological order for Starsky and Hutch worth listing. The original series tells self-contained cases in broadcast order, and the 2004 film is a reboot set before the series with its own comic continuity, so release order and story order are the same list. No reunion TV movies with the original cast were ever made. The personalities are flipped in the film, with Starsky as the serious one, which surprises first-time viewers.
