About The Afterparty
The Afterparty retells one murder per season through a different genre each episode, following detective Danner's interviews. Created by Christopher Miller, the first season ran eight episodes from January 2022 around a high-school reunion death.
The second season ran ten episodes from July 2023 around a wedding murder with a mostly new cast. Apple cancelled the show in October 2023, so the two cases are all there is. The seasons share only Danner, so either case works alone, but season one teaches the retelling trick that season two plays with.
Good to know
Air order is the sensible path for an anthology. Season two assumes you understand the each-witness-a-genre device and skips explaining it, so starting there dulls the joke. Each season's episodes must be watched in sequence since every retelling adds suspects the finale needs. With cancellation after two cases, the 18 episodes are complete.
